Professor Kevan R. Wylie qualified in medicine MB ChB in
Liverpool in 1985 and with postgraduate training in Leeds and
London, achieved the Diploma in Therapy with Couples (1993) and
Diploma in Sexual Medicine (1994). He obtained his doctorate MD in
couples sex therapy in 1999.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, a
Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Fellow of the Royal
College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and is an Associate
Member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons.
Obtaining his first consultancy in Sheffield
in 1995, he has worked full time for the NHS in sexual and gender
medicine since June 1999. Prof Wylie works across two trusts
as Clinical Lead for Porterbrook clinic (where he is also clinical
director of the regional gender clinic) and Consultant Lead for
andrology (urology) at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
Prof Wylie is Honorary Professor at Sheffield
Hallam University and Honorary Reader at the University of
Sheffield. He is also Adjunct Associate Professor at the University
of Sydney & Visiting Professor to the Department of Sexology at
Yerevan State Medical University. Prof Wylie was Chairman of the
British Society for Sexual Medicine (BSSM)
(2007–2009) and was awarded the EFS Gold Medal in 2008
for his work into sexual medicine, sexology and sex education
He is President of the World Association for
Sexual Health (WAS), vice president of the European Federation of
Sexology (EFS) and on the Board of Directors for the World
Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and the
International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health
Prof Wylie is chair of the UK intercollegiate
standards of care committee (hosted by the Royal College of
Psychiatrists) as well as the UK clinician representative on the
WPATH standards of care revision committee (version 7).
