Alan Currie, MB ChB, MPhil, FRCPsych

Consultant Psychiatrist, Regional Affective Disorders Service, Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust.


Professor Currie is a consultant psychiatrist with nearly 20 years' experience in community psychiatry. He is also Visiting Professor at the University of Sunderland in the Department of Sport and Exercise Science. He has published on a range of sports psychiatry topics, including a handbook of sports psychiatry for clinicians.


Professor Currie is a member of the International Society for Sport Psychiatry (ISSP) and Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Sports and Exercise Special Interest Group (SESIG). He has acted as a consultant to a number of national sports organisations.

Professor Peters is a consultant psychiatrist working in elite sport, education, health and the corporate world. He previously worked in the NHS for 20 years. He is a professor in the Department of Medical Education at Sheffield Medical School as well as at Derby University. He authored The Chimp Paradox, a mind management resource for the general public.
